Port Harcourt Records Ebola death. Over 70 Under Surveillance

The Federal Government, Thursday, confirmed that the doctor that died in a hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, died of the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD.

The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, told journalists in Abuja on Thursday that the doctor contacted the disease after treating a patient who came in contact with Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian-American who brought Ebola to Nigeria.

The Enugu State House of Assembly has removed the state’s Deputy Governor, Sunday Onyebuchi, from office.

The Assembly voted Tuesday morning to sack Mr. Onyebuchi from office.
Details of the impeachment session is still sketchy but the deputy governor’s removal is believed to have been masterminded by Governor Sullivan Chime.

The embattled Enugu State Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, continued with his evidence before the impeachment panel, yesterday, revealing that Governor Sullivan Chime also operated poultry and piggery farms at Government House.

He told the panel that the government had since 2011 made annual budget for the maintenance of the poultry, adding that the funds were released and tendered the state’s budget from 2011 to 2014 to back his claims.

Female suicide bomber, 5 others killed in Kano

KANO—Ancient city of Kano witnessed fresh bomb attacks, yesterday, as twin explosions targeted at worshippers at Saint Charles Catholic Church, Sabon Gari, and a police check point in Kano killed six persons. The dead included a soldier, two women, a man, a child and a female suicide bomber.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, Adelenre Shinaba told reporters in Kano that the attack on the Catholic Church located at Zungeru Road, occurred shortly after the Sunday mass when an object suspected to be Improvised Explosive Device was thrown from opposite the church at a crowd of worshippers, leaving the service.

It was gathered that General Muhammadu Buhari was almost killed in the second bomb explosion that rocked Kaduna town this afternoon in which more than 20 persons were killed.

An explosion has occurred in central Kaduna killing at least 20 people.

The blast occurred Wednesday afternoon along Isa Kaita road which leads to the popular Murtala Square.
A witness said the explosion is believed to have targeted the convoy of a prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, who was on his way to the Square.

“Senate not a retirement benefit for ex-Governors” – Enugu West People’s Forum


The Enugu West People’s Forum, on Monday, faulted the suggestion by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. USA Igweshi, that Governor Sullivan Chime should be compensated with the Enugu West Senatorial seat at the end of his eight years in office as the Governor of Enugu State.
