Mr. Dogara has done us a great favour. His inadvertent revelations (at least that is what it is for those who did not know hitherto) underscored the fact that the “North”, spearheaded by the Sultanate, has realigned to be able to continue to dominate the rest of Nigeria, which is considered their inheritance bequeathed by Uthman Dan Fodio. The “North" as it were now has the President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senate Leader and House Majority Leader. They also have the Chief Justice, Head of Federal Civil Service, Accountant General of the Federation, Director Department of Petroleum Resources, and very soon the Ministers of Defence, Petroleum, Industries and Finance would follow.

Mr. Yakubu Dogara, the new Speaker of the House of Representatives, recently told the world an open secret – that the ongoing crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a result of the “New thinking in the North” aimed at appropriating total control of power to the exclusion of the rest or other sections of the country. Rather than be seen as a negative step, I consider this as a positive step towards the destiny of Nigeria to balkanise.

Nigeria on Wednesday has accused South Africa of blocking a legal arms purchase and threatened retaliation against major South African companies, including telecom giant MTN Nigeria, if the row is not resolved.

Port Harcourt Records Ebola death. Over 70 Under Surveillance

The Federal Government, Thursday, confirmed that the doctor that died in a hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, died of the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD.

The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, told journalists in Abuja on Thursday that the doctor contacted the disease after treating a patient who came in contact with Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian-American who brought Ebola to Nigeria.
