The 2019 Conjecture: The Dilemma of Britain Over Buhari

Left for Britain alone Buhari should be made a life president of Nigeria instead of conducting another election next year because in him they met all the criteria they needed in an African leader - a dumb, myopic, daft, loyal, stupid and brainless leader. You know these imperialists prefer daft stooges to smart leaders.

Think about this: If Nigeria as a country never really ascertained the exact quantity of oil drilled and exported by foreign companies over the years when relatively smart southerners were manning the industry how much worse now that Buhari, who never really know anything, is heading the Petroleum Ministry.

To prove that Buhari is a favoured child of the Queen, just like Gowon was during the war, he (Buhari) always feels at home and has his secrets protected anytime he goes for medical treatment. No other sitting Nigerian President has ever stayed such long as he does in the UK undergoing medical treatment or vacation. Even Yar'adua, a fellow Fulani, who had his medical records in Germany had to transfer it to Saudi Arabia whom he trusted more when he became the president.

But political watchers were surprised recently when Britain, a strong supporter of Buhari, was among the international communities pressuring him not to run for a second term in office in 2019. What may have gone wrong?

Inshot before now, the British High Commissioner in Nigeria, Paul Arkwright, broke all known diplomatic and international laws, by visiting various APC political gatherings and Buharis' campaigns grounds, drumming support for Buhari and his party, APC.

In June 2018, at the eve of the Ekiti election,  immediately after Oshiomoles' emergence as the APC Chairman, Paul Arkwright, visited Oshiomole in his office at the APC secretariat and none of us knew what was discussed behind the media. But when he was coming out from the office, he met with reporters and gave superficial reason as his purpose for the visit.

The British diplomat told the media that he visited Oshiomole in order to advise both parties against rigging of Ekiti governorship election. Wonderful!

My first thought was: If you really want to advise against rigging of election then the person you should visit is the INEC Chairman and not the APC Chairman. INEC is the electoral umpire and without their connivance no one can rig an election. Secondly if you must advise political parties  against rigging then there should be a platform where you will meet ALL the political parties standing for the election and advised them accordingly. But this never happened;  neither was there any record of Paul Arkwright visiting Secondus, the PDP Chairman.

He never also visited Fayose when he was teargassed by the police. Infact it was the US Deputy High Commissioner who visited Fayose when he was teargassed. This too will tell you a lot more about the tripartite game of the US, the UK and France playing in Nigeria.

The French Factor

The Bri-French rivalry in Africa is as old as the colonial Africa itself. Britain and France had almost equal share of colonized African countries. They got about 80% lion share, while Belgium, Portugal, Germany, Spain and other shared the remaining countries. With this France and Britain always compete on who will scavenge much higher resources in Africa than the other.

It is not yet clear what was the exact mission of Emanuel Macron, the French President, when he visited Nigeria about two months ago. Hitherto the purpose of his visit has been shrouded in secrecy. But whatever it was, one thing is sure: his visit was not for a bilateral agreement with Nigeria; neither was it in the interest of Buhari's second term ambition, else his government would have blown it out of proportion in celebrating it. And I'm sure it wasn't because he wants to dance in Felas' Afikas' Shrine too. A word for Buhari against his second term ambition cannot be overruled.

The Trump Factor

The US President Donald Trump is a globally acknowledge drama king himself. He's known as a man who doesn't hide his feeling or show political correctness in what others might term applying 'diplomacy'. Well I'm not going to talk about his recent reference of Buhari as a "lifeless" President, but on what may have transpired behind the scene when Buhari visited him at the white house in Washington.

Call it conspiracy theory or whatever you like, but there's no doubt that Buhari's visit to Trump in April 2018, was initiated by Britain to see how they can galvanize support and international acceptance for the herdsman re-election in 2019.

You will recall that immediately after Buahri's meeting with Trump in Washington D.C. he made a "technical stop-over" to Britain, and up till today we 've not been told what this technical stopover was all about but I believed he just stopped over to intimate his British principals of how he went. What a loyal stooge!

We should not forget in a hurry that Buhari was installed by Obama's America and Britain using the opposition in Nigeria as a tool. So it's just a normal thing for Britain to seek the support of her partner-in-crime in re-electing him again. But unfortunately for them Trump is not interested for reasons too numerous to be mentioned here and one of which is his reluctance to carry-on with Obama's foreign policy and personal vendetta.

Saraki and the Opposition Factor

Jolted by the way the opposition coordinated herself in defecting and forming a bloc alliance with PDP and coupled with Trump's refusal to support Buhari, Britain had no other option than to tow the line of other international communities to ask Buhari to step down from office.

The British imperialists are smart after all, they understood that politics is local and that without the support of local power brokers and stakeholders their plans will fail woefully so they quickly abandoned the idea of supporting the Daura herdsman lest they incure the wrath of any new President taking over from Buhari.

Ask yourself these questions:

The French and US Ambassadors in Nigeria at various times have strongly condemned the killings by Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria, but has the British Ambassador ever condemned it? Has he?

The first time Donald Trump met with Buhari, he condemned the killing of Christians in Nigeria by herdsmen, but have the Queen or the British PM ever condemned it? Have they?

Infact the other time Buhari met with the Queen during the Common Wealth meetings, the woman was busy lamenting that Nigeria should abolish her anti-gay laws. Imagine? So even in the midst of killings in Nigeria, all that mattered for the imperialist Queen to condemn was the anti-gay laws in Nigeria and not the people being killed. Wonders, the say, shall never end!
