The Federal and Lagos State Governments have warned churches and healing homes that specialise in miracles to beware of treating or trying to heal suspected patients suffering from the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, as that could lead to the spread of the disease.

Female suicide bomber, 5 others killed in Kano

KANO—Ancient city of Kano witnessed fresh bomb attacks, yesterday, as twin explosions targeted at worshippers at Saint Charles Catholic Church, Sabon Gari, and a police check point in Kano killed six persons. The dead included a soldier, two women, a man, a child and a female suicide bomber.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, Adelenre Shinaba told reporters in Kano that the attack on the Catholic Church located at Zungeru Road, occurred shortly after the Sunday mass when an object suspected to be Improvised Explosive Device was thrown from opposite the church at a crowd of worshippers, leaving the service.

It was gathered that General Muhammadu Buhari was almost killed in the second bomb explosion that rocked Kaduna town this afternoon in which more than 20 persons were killed.

An explosion has occurred in central Kaduna killing at least 20 people.

The blast occurred Wednesday afternoon along Isa Kaita road which leads to the popular Murtala Square.
A witness said the explosion is believed to have targeted the convoy of a prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, who was on his way to the Square.

“Senate not a retirement benefit for ex-Governors” – Enugu West People’s Forum


The Enugu West People’s Forum, on Monday, faulted the suggestion by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. USA Igweshi, that Governor Sullivan Chime should be compensated with the Enugu West Senatorial seat at the end of his eight years in office as the Governor of Enugu State.
The group bared its mind in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Ugulu O. Ugulu while reacting to an interview published in a national daily on today.
The Forum stressed that while it had no problem with deserving former governors coming to the Senate through free and fair democratic contest, it was opposed to seeing legislative seats as a compensation or retirement benefit for former governors.

Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Impeached!

The Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chukwuma Nwazunku, has been impeached.
He was impeached on Monday morning and replaced by Helen Nwaobasi representing Abakaliki South State Constituency.
Eighteen out of the 24 members of the House of Assembly reportedly voted out the Speaker.
Eni Uduma Chima representing Afikpo South West moved the motion for the election of Helen. The motion was seconded Jerry Obasi.
Frank Onwe moved the motion for the Speaker’s impeachment, which was seconded by the minority leader, Enyi C. Enyi.
Before the proceedings for the impeachment of the Speaker commenced, reprieve came the way of Frank Onwe,  Eni Uduma Chime and deputy speaker, Blaise Orji, who were earlier suspended.
The lawmakers  lifted their suspension and they fully participated in today’s proceedings that culminated in the sack of Nwazunku.

Adamawa acting gov sacks cabinet •Majority leader removed

THE acting governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Umar Fintiri, has dissolved the cabinet constituted by former governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako (retd).
In a statement signed by Professor Abdullahi Liman Tukur, the Secretary to the State Government, who was sworn in on Thursday, the sack of all political appointees of the Nyako-led administration was with immediate effect.

A pan-Igbo group, the South East Revival Group (SERG), Thursday, rose in defence of Governor Sullivan Chime and his Chief of Staff, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo over an attack by a group which identified itself as Save Enugu Movement.
Save Enugu group had alleged in an advertorial in a national newspaper last Friday that Nwobodo was among other things, involved in shady deals regarding contracts in the state’s Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB). The group also made a veiled reference to Chime in the deal.

Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, has been impeached today, after the state House of Assembly concluded its deliberations on the report of the panel set to probe allegations of financial misconducts leveled against him. It will be recalled that the state Deputy Governor, Bala Ngilari, resigned from office to avoid being impeached along with his boss.The committee submitted its report to the House  yesterday, amidst high security presence at the premises of the state’s assembly.

Mr. Ngilari’s resignation letter was read at the plenary by the speaker of the Assembly, Umaru Fintiri, after which the lawmakers approved it.
Nyako, Ngilari had failed to appear before the panel constituted to investigate the allegations against them following an earlier noticed served the executives by the assembly members.

Five injured in auto crash in Enugu

No fewer than five persons sustained injuries in a ghastly auto crash that occurred along the Ogui Road in the heart of Enugu State capital on Friday afternoon.
The crash which caused traffic gridlock for some hours on the busy dual-carriageway occurred at about 2pm. Three vehicles were involved.

Death toll from Israeli strikes 'hits 100'

THE death toll from Israeli air strikes on Gaza has risen to 100, Palestinian sources say.
The latest deaths were of two people in a car in the Bureij area on Friday, they said.
Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes since launching its operation on Tuesday to stop rocket fire from Gaza. Militants there continue to fire on Israel, causing damage and injuries.

Boko Haram: Chief Imam, Aba Central Mosque, 6 others arrested for interogation.

Two Imams and five other members of the Muslim community in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, were in the wee hours of yesterday, arrested by soldiers over alleged suspected bombs.

According to the former Abia State Amirul-haj and deputy chairman of the Muslim community in Aba, Alhaji Musa Iheakaram, the soldiers, who he said, came in seven Hilux vans stormed the Aba Central Mosque on Mosque Street at about 2.00 am in search of bombs alleged to have been brought into the mosque.

Robbers attack bank, kill two policemen in Enugu

About six armed robbers attacked an old generation bank over the weekend at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, UNEC, carting away millions of naira from the bank’s ATM.

The incident occurred barely one month after a similar attack was launched on a new generation bank inside the campus.

Over 50 terrorists, 11 soldiers, a Colonel, DPO killed in shoot out

About 12 soldiers including a colonel, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, three policemen and four civilians were feared killed at the weekend when about 200 terrorists operating in many Toyota Hilux vehicles attacked Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
