Primate
Ayodele…Jonathan is the last PDP President

At the end of every
year and, most times, the beginning of the year, most Nigerian pastors seem to
be in competition of giving out predictions or revelations from God concerning the
nation in the incoming year. And Nigeria being a super-religious country, the
prophecies, despite the contradictions and cacophonic rhythms in them, are not
being joked with by the citizens because they are supposedly coming from their ‘Daddies
in the Lord’.

Even me too, despite
being a critic and public affairs analyst, I enjoy listening and analyzing
them, at least to know what is going to happen in the coming year, after all
the bible says that “the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan
to his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7). As such there must be messages from
God concerning a nation which must come through His servants.
So in the previous
years I had listened to and monitored some predictions by notable prophets such
as Apostle Johnson Suleiman of Omega Fire Ministries, Prophet TB Joshua of
Synagogue Church of All Nations, Primate Elijah Ayodele of INRI Spiritual
Evangelical Church, Primate Theophilus Olabayo of Evangelical Church of Yahweh and
Prophet Joshua Iginla of Champions Royal Assembly to mention but a few; and have
seen most of their prophecies come to pass. Prominent amongst them who gives
specific, precise and accurate predictions without ambiguity is Apostle Johnson
Suleman - and his annual predictions, just like others, almost always centered
on politics and the state of the nation.
Apostle Suleman:
notable
for his accurate predictions

That was why towards
the ending of 2014, when the much-touted and long-awaited 2015 was approaching,
I was keen to read what they would say concerning the tension-soaked, anxiety-packed
2015 elections – earlier scheduled to hold in February. I was eager to know who
they say will win the presidential poll between President Jonathan and Buhari, the
candidates of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All
Progressive Congress (APC) respectively, I also wanted to know what will become
of Nigeria after the winner must have been announced. Will there be a post-election
violence as was experienced in 2011? If there is, will it be a prelude to the
2015 break-up of Nigeria as predicted by the United States? All these and more
prompted me to wait eagerly for their 2015 New Year predictions.
Fortunately, none of
them predicted the break-up of Nigeria and although they painted a gory picture
of the country with much violence and bloodshed, they reiterated that Nigeria would
not break-up.
For Primate Theophilus
Olabayo, there may be no election in 2015, according to him, the presidential
election may not hold, and if it holds at all, it may be stalemated or
inconclusive - it will be another June 12.
Reeling out prophecies in December
2014 he said, “I have told you that there may not be election next year and if
there is going to be an election, God told me that they are going to rig the
election and this will cause an upheaval and the results of the election will
not be declared and if the result is declared, the winners of the election will
not govern. But my advice to our politicians is that they should let the
president go peacefully and retire to his village.”
Primate Olabayo…not
seeing election in 2015

In his 2014 prophecies
for the nation, released in December 2013, Apostle Johnson Suleman, insisted
that Jonathan will be the last PDP President. And in his 2015 prophecies, he
noted that the 2015 election will be like another June 12, 1993 election.
According to him, the man who truly won will not rule. He also revealed that
the presidential election will be rigged and marred in violence and will be
inconclusive, yet Jonathan declared winner. He asked us to pray against
military intervention and interim government in Nigeria. In his own words,
“With the level of bloodshed I saw, it was better Goodluck goes now to his
village quietly.”
Also Primate Elijah Ayodele
revealed that, “No matter what, Jonathan will be the last PDP president in
Nigeria. I don’t see a landslide victory in the presidential election.”
However, without being
skeptical about the credibility of the prophecies of these men or waiving them
aside as mere psychological guesswork, I observed that none of them could successfully predict the recent shift in the
election timetable from its earlier scheduled dates of February 14 and 28
to the new dates of March 28 and April 11.
This comes to question
as to whether they didn’t hear well from God or He (God) refused to reveal it
to them. In short, for not predicting a monumental move like the polls shift people
like me who, though analytical, still believe in prophecies confidently boasted
that INEC will not succumb to pressure from presidency to postpone the
elections because I believe there were no such predictions from ALL these men
of God for the 2015 electoral year.
Of course, I am sure if
they had seen it spiritually, they would have rushed to the press with it as this
will boost their public perception and prophetic precision ability and will
attract even more followership to their flock.
On a closer
examination, the only person that came close to predicting this - is Primate
Olabayo, who argued that the elections may not hold in 2015, but he never talked
about the polls postponement. On the contrary, he may be correct as we still
await March 28 and April 11 to be sure whether the elections will hold or not.
Nevertheless, it’s not
my job to judge their fallibility.
Also another issue rocking
in the polity now which they failed to predict is the current clandestine moves
by the presidency to remove and replace the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega,
even before the conduct of the rescheduled election. None of them prophesied
this, and at the end of the day if the plot materialized, just like its sister
plot – the polls postponement - it would be a big news that would alter the
equilibrium of the 2015 permutations and, as such, should have been part of
their 2015 election predictions.
Nevertheless all these things
go a long way to show that the events of this life and the affairs of men are controlled
and determined by God alone; and He reveals it to whom he pleases, and not
necessary by the prophetic gifts or ability of men of God to fathom mysteries.
In all, we pray for a peaceful
and bloodless election this year. Men can fail, but God never fails!
