Tribute to Fallen Nigerian Freedom Fighters

I want to salute all the fallen comrades who have fought selfless battles in Nigeria thinking it was a redeemable human enclave not knowing it was an irredeemable animal kingdom.

I won't forget Gani Fawehinmi who was my source of inspiration in early 2000'. He was uncompromising and spent most of his years in prisons under the military rule. It was he whom IBB revealed that every Nigerian has a price tag, except Gani. He fought till his death in 2009.

I'm grateful to Prof Chinua Achebe who used the most potent weapon he had - his writings - in fighting for his people. He rejected Aso Rock bribic awards that would have made him compromise. Obama called him a revolutionary writer, while Mandela described him as "a writer in whose company the prison walls fell down."

What of Tai Solarin, a fierce social critic and educator who was almost compromised by the Minna evil genius's appointment. He regained his foot and resigned from the People's Bank Board as Chairman. He fought till his death in 1994.

Greetings to late Chima Ubani of the Civil Liberties Organization. A first class material, Chima left all his ambitions and died in the struggle he believed in. He was killed by the same ill he was fighting - bad roads - when he died on a road accident on his way to Maiduguri. Unfortunately a former comrade who sent him on the errand, Oshiomole, is now whining and dining with the evils they all fought against.

What of the late Abami eda, Fela Kuti?Equal to none, stubborn and unrepentant to his grave, Fela used his musical institution to reign terror on the evil Nigerian government.

Also I want to shame those who started well but compromised on the way due to stomach infrastructure.

Soyinka still has my respect on scholarly issues but not on activism anymore.

Falana has long gone political and compromised.

Festus Keyamo, a protege of late Gani, whom we thought will replace him as a fighter, has long been compromised.

What of my much cherished Niger Delta Avengers who held Nigeria on its jugular, and almost rendered the British enclave useless because of Buhari's stubbornness. Unfortunately, they were compromised.

Finally I thank all IPOB and Biafrans world wide as well as the indefatigable leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who have taken the world by surprise on the largest movement the world has ever seen.

I thank our late leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, for seeing the light over 50 years ago and fought for the salvation of his people.

Love from,
Chike Nnamani.
