My 2016 Persons of the Year

As the year 2016 is fast going and will be collapsing into a new year in few hours from now, some people, within the year, made news and headlines that reverberated across the nation and kept tongues waggng for days and weeks. Some happened within Nigeria, while others internationally.

For their successes and, some, for their bravery and courageous acts of not giving up, I tag these people CNB (Chike Nnamani's Blog) 2016 Persons of the Year. Below are their names and why they made the list:

 Mr. Joe Chinakwe

Mr, Chinakwe is the popular Igbo trader living in Ogun State, Nigeria, who came to limelight in August 2016, after he was notoriously arrested by the police for naming his dog, Buhari. Angered by his act and boldness, the Hausa/Fulani community in the Ogun neighborhood where Chinakwe lives reported him to a Fulani policeman and insisted that he must be arrested, prosecuted and jailed for naming his dog Buhari or they (fulanis) will kill him. 

The Nigeria President’s name is Buhari, and he is a Fulani by tribe too.

For not giving up and sticking with his wish of naming his dog Buhari despite all threats, Mr. Chinakwe is CNB 2016 Person of the Year.

Mr Nnamdi Kanu

Mr. Kanu is President Buhari’s politically prisoner and leader of the Indeginous People of Biafra (IPOB), who is agitating for the emergence of a new state,  Biafran Republic, from the Nigerian state. Kanu is seen as the new face of the Biafran struggle.

Though he has made several lists of Persons of The Year in the past, Kanu’s recent outburst in a court of law where he called the Nigeria’s President Buhari – a completely mad man- while trying to resist Buhari's alleged interference in the Nigerian judiciary reverberated in many online and print media for days.

For his bravery acts, Kanu is our 2016 Person of the Year.

Mr. Donald Trump

Mr. Donald Trump, POTUS - elect

Mr. Trump shook the whole world when, in November 2016, against all odds by the world establishments: Obama incumbency and Democratic party attacks and media conspiracy, won the 45th President of the United States to the consternation and chagrin of the globalists and ‘liberals’.

Mr. Trump is not a conventional politician, and is known for his hard talks. It is believed he will reverse most of Obama’s harmful foreign policies and restore the strain relationship between America and Israel, Russia etc.

Mr. Vladimir Putin

Vladimir Putin: Russian President

Vladimir Putin is the World’s most powerful man according to Forbes 2016 Most Influencial People.  He is the strongest enemy of Obama administration and hardly agrees with Obama on any of his international policies. 

Putin's strong opposition to Obama's has constantly kept America on her toes on world politics. Russia was recently accused of interfering in American’s recent concluded elections. He was accused of hacking into DNC’s e-mail account.

Putin is believed to have built the strongest military weapon in the world.
