The wave of renaissance that swept across Africa in the middle of 20th century, which brought about independence to various African nations, was just a prelude to total emancipation of Africans from the grip of Europeans; as Africans were still under the siege of the West even after their independence.
From 18th century, the Empire of Great Britain had become a global hegemon, after its industrial revolution in 18th century, expanding their frontiers across the coast and nations of the world. However, from the historical analysis below, I discovered that the continuous global dominance of Britain is directly proportional to the actual control it exerted over its colonies.

However, from the historical analysis below, I discovered that the continuous global dominance of Britain is directly proportional to the actual control it exerted over its colonies.
In 1815, after the defeat of France in the Napoleonic Wars, Britain emerged the principal imperial power of the century, becoming the global colonial lord, expanding to the British Raj - India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Burma, and other territories of the world; controlling economies, regions, and many continents of the world including Asia and Latin America.
Even though the Ottoman Empire held sway in most parts of East and Central Europe, North Africa, and Middle East, Britain took over those territories when the Empire collapsed, after the First World War.
By the end of 19th century, in 1885, they had acquired Africa, and shared it among the then leading European powers such as France, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Portugal, with Britain having the lion share as the world super power. France was a rival of Britain in the West African colonization.

In the middle of 20th century, at the end of Second World War in 1945, following the defeat of Germany and the rise of Soviet Union, Britain was equalled with three other countries a world powers. They are: the Soviet Union, the United States, the United Kingdom and China.
The second half of the 20th century marked the beginning of the diminishing power of the Great Britain. Apart from the war which left her severely weakened and economically diminished, the rise of nationalism in the various colonies of the Empire left an indelible mark in her global prominence.

In Asia, they lost India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh; and in the Middle East, the Arabian and the Jewish nations. America had earlier broken away in 1783, after the American Revolutionary War, which started in 1775.

Over the next three decades, most colonies of the British Empire in Africa and other territories gained their independence, and this further weakened her influence resulting in slipping out of a world power status, leaving only the United States and the Soviet Union as world powers.
The Soviet Union, however collapsed in 1991, leaving only the United States as a super power.
Here we go!
If Britain dreads anything in life, they dread losing economic and political control of its former colonies, as this can diminish their influence on global and regional politics.
Over time Africans have become pawns in the experimenting and manipulative hands of these imperial masters. We all remembered how Obama's America and Britain removed former President Jonathan, and installed a dummy Fulani, who has impoverished the country to their admiration. Obama tried it in Israel but failed, as the Jews re-elected Benjamin Netanyahu for a second term.
Indeed the West have always been manipulating Africans for their own gains; many a time we see IMF monitoring and evaluating African economies, insisting they adopt their own economic blueprint and do their bidding, yet with the implementation of all these advises the economies have not been able to develop.
They never wanted a truly independent African nation, for it will pose a challenge to their hegemony and continental control. This reminds me the way and manner in which an independent-minded African leader, Muammar Gaddafi, was uprooted from Libya years ago.
I first fell in love with late Col. Muammar Gaddafi in 2010, when he called for the division of Nigeria into Muslim North and the Christian South, during the Fulani ethnic cleansing in Jos. His call elicited wide condemnations from Nigeria's seat of power with some calling him a 'Mad man,' claiming that Nigeria's problem was not religion as there are many ethnic groups with mixed religions. The Nigeria's Ambassador to Libya too was recalled. But adamant Gaddafi fired another statement saying that, instead of religious lines, Nigeria should now be disintegrated into various ethnic nationalities. (Laughs).

In those days I used to be a regular commenter on a Vanguard online newspapers; and for the love of Gaddafi's statement, I changed my disqus ID name from 'Chyko' to 'Prophet Muammar Gaddafi,' in solidarity to him, and calling him a prophet for having identified the solution to Nigeria's myriad of problems.
Nevertheless, the emergence of a Biafran nation will mark the end of British interference and Western manipulation in African affairs.
We all know there are Scramble for Oil and other natural resources in Africa and Biafra by these imperialists. But beyond oil, they have seen, and are threatened by the intelligence, ingenuity and autonomy of the people of Biafra. They know that Biafra will be a template for a truly independent African nation - a fulcrum for Africa's total emancipation from Western control.
Biafrans are trailblazers. Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe was one of the leading figures that started the wave of renaissance that swept across Africa in 20th century. He inspired Kwame Nkrumah who led the then Gold Coast to obtained her Independence from Britain even before Nigeria. It is on record that it was this same Hausa/Fulani that delayed Nigeria from getting her independence earlier. Little wonder the colonial masters always use them as pawns for easy manipulation.
Even today in Nigeria, it is the Biafran agitations that has open the eyes of other ethnic nationalities to clamour for restructuring over the lopsidedness of the Nigerian State. The brief period of the Biafra Republic between 1967 - 1970, also opened the eyes of the international community to what they should expect from the emerging nation. The type of technological prowess exhibited by Biafrans, within this period of time even in the midst of war and hunger, was unprecedented. Never in the history of Africa has any nation built such technological arsenal, without the help of the Western world.
Little wonder Britain may have co-opted other countries like Germany and France (their major rival in Africa, who had helped Biafrans during the Civil War blockade), to stop the restoration of a Biafran Republic.

Now I used Gaddafi as an example here because, even though he was a dictator, he was independent minded. He resisted many Western interference in his country. Even as he provided basic amenities to his people. In short at a time he was pushing for a union of African States to forge a common front known as the 'United States of Africa,' to be a formidable force against Western imperialism and control of Africa. The West was not comfortable with him, and they instigated a lot of insurrections and oppositions leading to his final extermination in 2011. Today Libya is a shadow of itself.

Therefore, it might not be a co-incidence that the trio of Britain, France and Germany, sent their ambassadors recently to come and speak in favour of maintaining the fraudulent 'One Nigeria' - a hitherto, British criminal enclave.
Chike Nnamani, a writer and public affairs analyst, has dedicated his pen for the destruction of the British edifice called Nigeria.
